I Believe

God the Father - Creator GodI Believe in God The Father - Jan 6, 2019

We believe in one God who is the author of creation, from whom all things have been formed. He is not only the father of creation but also our good Father - who’s heart is for us. He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to them. He has a long fuse, a short memory, a thick skin and a big heart. His Grace abounds. God knows our limitations but he also know our capabilities

Jesus The Only Son Of GodWe believe in Jesus - Jan 13, 2019

We believe in a Jesus who was both fully man and fully God. Jesus was God in bodily form. He also took upon himself full humanity. He became "Emmanuel" - God with us.

The Crucifixion and Resurrection  - Jan 20, 2019

We look at the death and resurrection of Jesus from the perspective of five people: God, Jesus, the Thief, the Centurion and Mary Magdalene. What were they thinking as Jesus died, what did his death mean for them and what was the outcome for them? What does Jesus death and resurrection mean for each of us today?

Judgement

Judgement  - Jan 27, 2019

When looking at the topic of judgement, it’s important that we start by understanding who God is. In Exodus 34 we read that He is compassionate and slow to anger. But this does mean that He does get angry - about the injustice and evil in this world. It is a fitting response to the brokenness and horrors that exist. Our anger can be impatient and reactive but God’s anger flows out of a heart of love. It is out of his love that some times God says “enough”. One day there will be a final “enough”. Jesus invites us to say “yes” to his invitation to forgiveness now before He comes again to judge all evil and injustice. The invitation is to all who will come.

Holy Spirit Holy Spirit - Feb 3, 2019

The Holy Spirit - the Lord the giver of life He proceeds from the Father and the Son, and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified. Our Christian lives are hampered if we don’t have a clear understanding of the Holy Spirit and who He is. The Holy Spirit is central to our faith and how we live our lives. The Father has sent us the Holy Spirit to guide us - as one who is to be the presence of our Father, with us at all times. He is to be released in and through us. One who makes Jesus known - to us and through us.

Church Church - Feb 17, 2019

Who is the church? Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ. If you do, you are a member of God’s family and part of both a local and worldwide body of believers. The church is to display the image of God and His Son Jesus, and demonstrate the reality and power of His Kingdom. When we understand that we are all to be part of doing that, and we each have a role to play, it gives us both a priority and also a freedom to go and do that in all manner of ways.

Forgiveness forgiveness - Feb 24, 2019

Our sinful desires separate us from the love of God. BUT whilst we were still in our sin, God made a way. Jesus chose to pay our debt. From that very act our sins were, and are, forgiven, if we humble ourselves and ask for forgiveness. As a result, we are freed from the guilt of the past and restored into relationship with God.

Eternal Life Eternal Life - Mar 10, 2019

We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life everlasting. We look with confidence. For our inheritance - it’s our living hope. Hope is a strong confidence in a certain future. The resurrected Jesus is the first installment of this. The old order of things (that which we see now) will pass away. The story ends  with heaven coming back down to earth and renewing all things. Restoration - bringing everything back under Jesus' glorious control

BaptismBaptism - Mar 17, 2019

We believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We can think of baptism as an optional extra. It isn’t. God wants us to get baptised. Baptism is linked to repentance in the Bible. We are to repent and be baptised. It is an act of obedience to God. That act doesn’t save us but it is an integral part of us being marked as sons and daughters of Christ.

Resurrection Of The DeadResurrection Of the Dead - Mar 24, 2019

Our final part of our series on the Nicene Creed,  is "We look forward to the Resurrection of the Dead". We discover that this future hope allows us to overcome the challenges of life. It also becomes the motivation for mission in the life of the believer.
